COVID 19 – Impact on Ministries Gatherings in Houston

At James Dixon Ministries, your safety and health are our top priority. If you have turned on your TV or scrolled through social media anytime in the last few weeks, you have probably heard of the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. This is a highly contagious virus that has been spreading across the globe and has made its way into Houston. This virus is highly contagious, which has led to social distancing and shelter-in-place orders from our leaders, in order to avoid further spread of this illness. We believe every one of our members should be offered a safe and healthy environment in which they are able to worship and connect to our savior, without increasing their risk for contracting this virus.

Due to the large numbers of both our congregation and clergy, we have made the decision to limit public services at this time. This means, for the time being, we will not be gathering in our church to worship. Instead, we will continue to explore other methods in which we can connect and spread the word and love of Jesus.

We encourage every one of our members to stay home as much as possible, avoid all unnecessary social gatherings, and to practice strict hygiene, in order to limit your risk factors. At James Dixon Ministries, we understand this is an emotionally, socially, and economically difficult time for many of our members. Our prayers are with you, our community, and the world.

Listed below are important steps you can take in order to protect yourself and those that you love during this time:

Stay Home: Unless you have a medical emergency or are in need of food or medicine, we encourage you to limit your time outside of your home. A shelter-in-place order has been put over Houston, meaning only essential businesses are open and that our government is asking us to avoid unnecessary interactions. Taking walks around your neighborhood are not prohibited and are even encouraged in order to get fresh air and some exercise.

Keep Your Distance: When you are at the grocery store or pharmacy, practice social distancing. Allow 6 feet between you and any person who you do not share a home with. This will help prevent the spread of this illness.

Wash Your Hands: Whenever you go to the grocery store, you will be touching several items other people have come into contact with. Avoid touching your face and be sure to wash your hands frequently with antibacterial soap or hand sanitizer. If possible, disinfect the surfaces of the items you purchase as they enter your home.

Don’t Panic, Be Kind: It is important that in this trying time we do not panic. Panic leads to more problems and complications. Our current situation is difficult and may make it difficult to remain calm, but through prayer and faith we will make it to the otherside of this pandemic. Be kind to your neighbor and stay safe.

James Dixon Ministries cares for you and your family. We look forward to resuming regular ministry gatherings as soon as we can. God bless.
